The collection of lanterns from Chan Lim Family of Artist and Students will be the first activities of the mall's Chinese New Year festivities. As we all know, lantern is one of the traditional decoration of Chinese culture and are being widely used in grand celebrations.

SM City North EDSA presents a grand collection of tghese beautiful hand-painted lanters as a wish for a bright future. During that day, we are able to meet Mr. Alex Lim which is one of the siblings and practioner of Chinese Style Painting. He teaches us the basic on how to paint a bamboo tree and the rest was so amazing.

Mr. Alex Lim draw on the spot and it may look simple and easy but I'm telling you that it's not because we tried it and it was had to paint it. Actually, it was my first ntime to use water color as my medium to draw or to paint and I find it dificult because you can't control the blotting of the color while you paint it. I usually use pencil or charcoal before. However, I believe that through practicing it, you will achieve a better paintings.

It was indeed an interesting activity and an addition to my knowledge when in comes to painting.  Anyway, the Chinese Lantern Exhibit will be at The Block Atrium, SM City North EDSA from January 24 to February 11, 2016. Also, SM City North EDSA's Chinese New Year celebration will continues with other exciting activities such as Chinese musical performances, oriental market, astrological readings and dragon dance.
