SM Holds Santa Meet-and-greet for Kids with Autism

For many, Christmas is the time of twinkling lights and carols. But for kids with autism, the "merry and bright" holiday season can be too overwhelming.

To make sure children with autism still get to experience the warmth and fun spirit of Christmas, SM Cares, the corporate social responsibility arm of SM Supermalls, host a special meet and greet for the kids at several of its Premier Malls across the country. The event is held in partnership with the Autism Society Philippines.

During the event, the kids was able to meet and greet Santa Claus without the stressful long lines of Christmas crowds. The event is sensory-friendly in nature, as it will have dimmer lights with soft music.

They also interact, play, and have their photos taken with Santa Claus in a calmer and more mindful environment. They also received Christmas basket and the exclusive SM Bears of Joy plushies.

"Our goal is to create a barrier-free and more inclusive for families who have kids with special needs, so that everyone can enjoy and create wonderful memories in our malls. SM is a mall for all, and we do our best to make sure no one is left out."
- Engr. Burn Mateo, SVP Operations of SM Supermalls and Program Head of SM Cares Program on PWDs.

To spread the spirit of joy and inclusivity, SM Cares also holds the event in the following SM Malls: SM City North Edsa, SM Mall of Asia, SM Southmall, SM Seaside Cebu, and SM Lanang Premier.
