PASYONISTA MAKES GOOD GOVERNANCE SEXY

The Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership (KN) launches Pasyonista, the newest brand of statement shirts that aims to bring the message of good governance to young people. The line is the most recent effort of KN for the Filipino youth to concretize its advocacy of effective, ethical, and empowering leadership.

Revolving around the theme “Making Good Governance Sexy”, the Pasyonista Shirt Line will be formally launched in an event entitled “Pasyonista: A Night of Music and Fashion” at the Conspiracy Garden Cafe on September 23, 2011. This event not only aims to launch the shirt line but also intends to showcase the talents and skills of local Filipino talents in both the music and fashion industry. KN Champions former Isabela Governor Grace Padaca, Akbayan Rep. Kaka Bag-ao, Quezon City Rep. Bolet Banal, and former Tamparan, Lanao del Sur Mayor Janjan Disomimba will also grace the event.

Talents from the fashion industry include Arjay Yano, a freelance stylist who also works in GMA Network, Christel Jane Alayon and Zoilo Go, both freelance models, and Kristine Ong and Rousselle Pantua, both budding make-up artists. From the music industry, jazz group Captain Fingers featuring Abel and Noel
Estanislao and promising duo Reese and Vica, who were recently given the Loyola Schools Award for the Arts in the Music category, will be featured.

Through the introduction of the Pasyonista Shirt Line in the market, the Movement hopes that the values of good governance and ethical leadership will continue to remain in the scope and consciousness of the Filipino people
from all walks of life.

The Kaya Natin! Mission

For the past three years, the Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership, a movement initially convened by the Ateneo de Manila University-School of Government, has been actively promoting and
espousing ethical, effective, and empowering leadership and responsible citizenship in our country.

Currently, the movement has champions and a core group who support and embody the movement’s advocacy. To name a few champions and co-founders of the movement are DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo, Among Ed Panlilio, and Hon. Grace Padaca. Some of the projects of these groups include the "Karapatan at Kalusugan”, a medical mission and good governance education session and the “Caravan for Good Governance and Leadership”, a program where some Champions give a talk to schools to share their good governance stories and the movement’s advocacy as well.

Powerful taglines of passion and fashion

To promote KN’s mission, the Pasyonista line aims to 1) promote the advocacy of good governance and passion for the Philippines and 2) showcase the talents of Filipino designers. To differentiate the line from the current brands already available in the market today, the Pasyonista Shirt Line offers to 1) exhibit different elements of Filipino history and trademarks, such as Filipino heroes and statues, and 2) include powerful taglines that inspires or challenges the consumers to gear or act towards good governance and ethical leadership. The line will be marketed to public officials, public figures, company executives, young professionals, and students mainly through social networking sites such as Multiply, Facebook, and Twitter and bazaars.
